FROM DATA FIRST TO AI FIRST

Welcome to the second edition of Nordic Data Science and Machine Learning summit. We have some exciting changes this year, and we hardly wait to host the event at 7A Odenplan in Stockholm this October.

Concept wise, one of the bigger changes is that we have added one more day to the event focusing on workshops and evening networking program. During the main day, we are keeping the two stages model, but in addition, we have added two extra small rooms for Code Katas and Demos, as well as bigger lounge area which will serve as place for spontaneous and unformal meetings. The main thought with the agenda was to maintain the focus on network knowledge sharing and put you as a delegate in the driver seat. We extended the time for panels and networking, and narrowed the agenda to current trends and implementation challenges.

Content wise, together with the Advisory Board we chose this year's tagline to be 'From Data First to AI First'. Not to point on the fact that we are going to be fully focusing on Artificial Intelligence on this year's summit, but to indicate on where are we heading technology and business wise. Better Insights, automation of manual processes, better use of data, have been the constants throughout the rise of technology especially in the last three decades. By unlocking the full power of structured and unstructured data and applying Artificial Intelligence, we can now automate both routine and nonroutine work. This puts a new dimension on today's data science function both from opportunity and challenge point of view.

On this year's Summit the focus will be on the management, business and technical side of Data Science including Machine Learning, Deep Learning and Artificial Intelligence We tried to balance the time dedicated to each topic and get good practical case studies to address these topics.

The landscape is changing and the Data Science function is maturing. As modern data strategy, digitalization, the increasing demand of ROI from analytics and data science projects are becoming key discussions in management meetings, the data science function need to take the lead in this data driven economy.

Bring your team. We have a lot to discuss.

Confidently Anticipate and Drive Better Business Outcomes
The instrumentation of nearly everything is creating a rising tide of data, both structured and unstructured. Every enterprise realizes data is a priceless strategic asset and a resource for competitive advantage. But data by itself is of little use.

Big Data, Big Challenges, and Big Opportunities
Traditional business intelligence (BI) tools provide limited explanations of why something happened, because most BI solutions are geared more for reporting and dashboarding workflows that focus on the past. As a result, users are left to create their own insights from slicing, dicing, and drilling through the data themselves

Machine Learning Automation: Beyond Algorithms
What happens if automated techniques that pro - vide results as good as models handcrafted by data scientists come to the market. As we've seen with the industrial revolution and the advent of the assembly line, when disruptive technologies enter the market, productivity rises dramatically and pent-up demand drives rapid expansion. We are seeing this with our customers, who are using automation techniques to answer many more business questions than before with the same amount of staff and skills.
